Prezzo - White Rose Centre

The White Rose Shopping Centre has undergone some much needed renovations lately, with an extension and revamp of their food courts. This has seen the introduction of Frankie and Benny's, Wok & Go, Handmade Burger Company and Prezzo.

I have nearly visited Prezzo on a couple of occasions with my friend Charlotte, but the slightly higher priced menu has always driven us back to F&B's, however Adam received a Taste Card from work recently which included Prezzo and so we decided to give it a go.

It was a Thursday evening and so it was expectedly rather quiet, we were seated immediately after checking that we could definitely use the Taste Card. (This card gives you 2for1 on meals or 50% off at a large selection of restaurants) I'll be honest and say that the waiter was a little too much, extremely friendly but spoke so fast that we were a bit taken aback when he sat us down, reeling off all he knew about the wine menu that we didn't even want.
For starters we ordered the King Prawns and a Garlic Bread. The waitress who took our order informed us that the breads were not included in the offer, but was extremely kind enough to take care of it for us and include it in the offer. So far so good, the starters were lovely and although I don't often order prawns they were delicious.
After much deliberating, I opted for Carbonara whilst Adam satisfied his cravings with a good ol' spag bol. I tend to avoid Carbonara as it is very creamy and I struggle to finish a full meal at the best of times and I wish I had stuck by that at Prezzo. The carbonara was so oily/greasy that I could barely eat it, I transferred it from the bowl to the plate in an attempt to drain it slightly, but it was leaving such an awful taste and texture in my mouth that I couldn't finish it. Fortunately, the Spaghetti Bolognese was fine and Adam really enjoyed it.
I was a little disappointed that when another waitress came to collect the plates, and asked if everything was alright (she could clearly see the pretty much full dish still on my plate!), she dismissed me when I said it was too oily to eat. She simply said "It's carbonara" with no apology or explanation.

We passed on dessert, but with the Taste Card, our bill came to little over £20 with drinks so that was a bonus. I won't be in a rush to revisit Prezzo and I definitely won't be ordering the Carbonara again, but I am looking forward to trying out the new burger place soon.

Check out the White Rose website and also the Taste Card to see which restaurants are involved!
